One man died and two other men were seriously injured in a collision early Sunday morning in the Ormond Beach area, troopers said. A Sanford man, 26, was westbound on State Road 40 in a Chrysler van when he "failed to maintain control while negotiating a curve" near Palmetto Pines Road shortly after 3:40 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The van entered the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 pulling a trailer; the truck then overturned and hit a traffic sign. The driver of the van, who troopers said wasn't wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, according to the FHP report.
