A Michigan-based coffee chain secured a permit for its first Northeast Florida location on the Southside. Biggby Coffee has more than 300 locations, mostly in the Midwest, though it does have a presence in South Carolina. Its two Florida locations are in Ormond Beach and Clearwater. Besides coffee, the chain serves tea, hot chocolate, bagels and sandwiches. The $430,000 permit for a 1,557-square-foot buildout at 8587 Beach Blvd., near HCA Memorial Hospital, calls for demolition, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work.
